Hundreds of thousands of protesters marched past Madison Square Garden and through the streets of Manhattan in what the New York Times called the cities "largest political protest in decades ."

The demonstration took place August 29, 2004, the day before the start of the 2004 Republican National Convention at Madison Square Garden.
